Within a crosstabs, it’s a number that is on the inside of the crosstab (that is, not a marginal)
Cell
A table that crosses two variables over one another so that we can see if there is a relationship between them
Crosstabulation
The process of showing within which groups a crosstab relationship exists or does not exist
Elaboration
A table that shows each category of a variable and the frequencies within each of these categories
Frequency distribution
A table that shows each category of a variable and the frequencies within each of these categories, but each category is a range of values rather than a single value
Grouped frequency distribution
A graphic version of a grouped frequency distribution, in which each bar represents not one value but a range of values
Histogram
The numbers that appear on the outside parts of a crosstab (i.e. not within the cells)
Marginals
A way to represent change in an amount, typically over time, by subtracting the old value from the new value, and then dividing by the old value
Percentage change
A graph that compares two groups on a ratio-level variable, such as age, with lower ages on the bottom of the pyramid, and higher ages at the top
Population pyramid
