At times, the formal theories\/theoretical concepts introduced in this course can seem abstract or disconnected from lived experience. This interactive assignment is designed to help students think more concretely about Student Development Theory (SDT) by applying it to real-world examples. In addition to course readings, each pair will review two supplementary articles related to their chosen theory. Based on their research, pairs will identify an exemplar\u2014a person, situation, event, or media artifact\u2014that illustrates the theory or one of its components. The goal is not simply to match a theory to an example, but to complicate and critically explore how the theory interacts with real student experiences. Avoid exemplars that tokenize or oversimplify identities and narratives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"aioseo-assignment-requirements-19\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color has-lora-font-family wp-elements-1b73db959341ed117c952110229096fc\" style=\"color:#e23b69\">Assignment Requirements&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"aioseo-a-theory-work-up-written-submission-20\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>a.&nbsp;Theory Work-Up&nbsp;(Written Submission)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each pair will upload a written \u201cTheory Work-Up\u201d and their exemplar prior to their presentation. The Theory Work-Up should be no more than one single-spaced page (excluding cover page and references), using the <a href=\"https:\/\/routledgelearning.com\/sdtia\/learning-activities\/further-resources\/\/#aioseo-theory-work-up-template-26\" title=\"template\">template<\/a> provided by the instructor. In the Theory Work-Up, pairs will engage student development theory through a critical, reflective lens by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Briefly outline the key assumptions or premises of the theory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Critically reflect on the theory:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What aspects ring true? (reflecting on positionality\/lived experiences)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What does not resonate? (reflecting on positionality\/lived experiences)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What\u2019s missing? (engaging in theory building)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whose interests does the theory serve? (critiques of sociopolitical contexts)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To explain the connections between the theory and their chosen exemplar, students must grapple with the      considerations below, posed by Duran et al., 2024:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Who Are College Students?
