We are grateful to Erik Rostad, President of EPR Creations, who structured and mounted the original version of this training program. His patience and talent are deeply appreciated.

We gratefully acknowledge the support for this project from the Institute of Education Sciences, National Center for Special Education Research, US Department of Education.

This training program presents a series of lessons on the Developmental Play Assessment-Practitioner Version (DPA-P). This program will cover:

  • Developments in children’s play
  • The DPA-P Categories of Play
  • The DPA-P components
    • How to administer and score the DPA-P
    • How to interpret the findings so that you can develop instructional play interventions

  • There are 15 lessons. You must complete them all in the order presented.
  • Each lesson should take about 30 minutes to complete.
  • Each lesson includes questions and quizzes, designed to give you feedback about how you are doing.
  • Lessons are organized into sections, with questions for each section, and a lesson quiz at the end of each lesson
  • At the end, you will perform a final activity that will assess your knowledge of:
    • The DPA-P
    • How to administer it
    • How to use the DPA-P
  • On successful completion of the final exercise, the computer will provide a Certificate of Completion for your records, which may be printed and/or saved electronically.
